At this year ORCA opening ceremony, Professor emeritus Ole Fejerskov (Department of Biomedicine, Faculty of Health, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark) and Professor emeritus Gunnar Dahlén (Department of Oral Microbiology and Immunology, Institute of Odontology, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden) presented the keynote lecture: "Caries research should contribute to improve oral health for all - reflections on La Cascada Declaration."

The presentation, with the subtitle "Why we believe that present day's research on the Oral Microbiome and Dental Caries necessitate a thorough rethinking of the structure and training of oral health personnel", was followed by an active discussion with the ORCA congress attendees, chaired by the ORCA President, Vice-President and Co-President.
